About Us

We were once known as the West Palm Beach Georgia Tech Club. We changed our name since our membership draws from an area well beyond West Palm Beach. Covering three counties Palm Beach, Martin and Indian River and extending as far north as Fort Pierce and as far south as Boca Raton, we feel the Georgia Tech Club of the Palm Beaches is a more appropriate name. We think you will agree with us!

The Palm Beaches is home to more than six hundred Tech graduates. Many of these alumni are interested in preserving their ties with the Institute after graduation. The objective of the Club is to provide interested alumni the forum; not only, for maintaining their association with Tech; but also, with other alumni who share this interest. The Georgia Tech Club of the Palm Beaches sponsors and participates in a variety of activities that support Tech. These areas of support include academics, athletics, school spirit, community relations and recruiting of students.

From an academics perspective, the Club participates in the screening of local President's Scholarship candidates and partners with the Alumni Association in funding a matching scholarship for local perspective Yellow Jackets. From an athletics perspective and in school spirit, the Club gathers to watch televised football and basketball games (see the Event section for details). In building our relationship with the community, the Club will be participating in community service projects for Team Buzz Day. By participating in College Night at our local high schools, the Club promotes Tech to the best students in the area, encouraging them to go to Tech and informing them of financial assistance.

In addition to these activities, the Club sponsors two major social events per year where alumni gather, network and just have a good time. These events, usually a dinner, features a guest speaker from Tech. Dr. Clough (President of the Institute) and athletic coaches have highlighted these dinners in the past. In the summer, prior to the start of the new school year, the Club hosts a barbecue for all entering freshman and their parents. This gives us alums the opportunity to meet and greet our newest Yellow Jackets!

The Georgia Tech Club of the Palm Beaches is only as strong as its interested alumni. We have no annual dues and rely on donations only. If you have been to previous events, we are looking forward to seeing you again this year. If you haven't been to an event, we hope you will consider joining us. Feel free to contact any of our officers at anytime in order to get involved! We look forward to hearing from you and hope to see you at the upcoming events! Go Jackets!
